(An Asian Glove
Puppet Exhibition)

This exhibition coming from Lin Liu-Hsin Puppet Theatre
Museum, one of the most prestigious puppet museums of the
world, in Taipei, Taiwan is a golden opportunity for all art
lovers. The exhibition, realized with the support of Konak
Municipality, consists of traditional glove puppets, puppet
costumes and accessories of Asian countries. In the exhibition,
there are puppets especially designed for play in order to help
children get to know puppets better.
In the exhibition venue, this magnificent activity will welcome
the spectators with traditional glove puppet shows of Turkey,
Taiwan, United Kingdom and Italy performed by the puppeteers of
these countries. An opportunity to watch a puppet play will be
offered to those who attend these scheduled performances and the
exhibition.

Each year, photographs
from various instants of the festival catching the objective of
the photographer will meet the spectators in an exhibition in
the next year’s festival and all these photographs will become
the most precious documents forming the memory of the festival
through the years. In the first exhibition prepared with this
idea as a starting point, reflections from the objective of
Serdar Sonmemis reminisces 3rd Izmir puppet Days.
Sonmemis, who proves to be a photo artist in addition to his
acting, has been awarded many times in this field.

(Exhibition of the Poster Designs for the Puppet Festival)

From this year on, the
poster of our festival will be designed by the students of
Graphics Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dokuz Eylul
University. The exhibition comprising invaluable works produced
in this venture which is one of the most authentic examples of
the cooperation between art and educational institutions in the
name of improving cultural and artistic life of the city gives
an impression of the ‘puppet’ through the eyes of future graphic
artists.

This time, puppet comes to life with soil and
spreads about the city. The exhibition, of which Prof. Halil
Yoleri is the curator, comprises clay puppets prepared by the
graduate students from the Department of Ceramic and Glass
Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dokuz Eylul University, and
photographs of the instants where the hands of the city and
these puppets meet, by Ass. Prof. Gökhan Binici, from the
Department of Photography.
